Sundance Draws Big Crowd to Keller Williams Concert

While the temperature neared 90 degrees at the start of the Keller Williams concert last Friday night, the heat didn’t deter an estimated 1,000 people who visited Kings Harbor to hear former “American Idol” finalist Sundance Head. A strong breeze off of Lake Houston provided welcome relief for the audience, but the wind played havoc with Sundance’s acoustic guitar. It broke just before the concert and he had to run home for a back up.

A true professional, Sundance didn’t miss a beat and started the concert right on time. He was joined on the Harbor Plaza by Keith Rowe on guitar and vocals.

Lake Houston Family YMCA Unveils Expanded Facility

I moved to Kingwood in September of 1993 – the month the Lake Houston Family YMCA first opened its doors. Nearly seventeen years later, the YMCA in Kingwood is looking new again. On May 13, I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the facility’s $5 million expansion project and was amazed at the results.

The host of the event was Jenna Dhayer, the YMCA’s executive director. She welcomed the members of the business community and the YMCA board and saying: “So many of you have been involved in this project for so many years. From the bottom of my heart, and my staff’s heart, we really appreciate your support.”

Dhayer recognized Keller Williams Realty Northeast Co-Owner Mark Heinrich for more than 20 years of volunteer efforts for the YMCA. She noted that he has been involved in all three capital campaigns, served on the board for 12 years and was named Volunteer of the Year.

Just when they thought it was safe to go back to their real estate jobs, the KW Thriller Dancers are now on YouTube. Someone secretly recorded the daylight performance of the KW Thriller Dancers at the Keller Williams Concert at Kings Harbor on April 16.

A group of nine Keller Williams Realty Northeast associates under the direction of Fred Astaire Dance Studio transformed into zombies to dance a tribute to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. They performed twice, once before the sun went down, and a second time under the light of the moon which really brought the zombies to life. The performers were: Michael Clapp, Bob and Terri Blewett, Sandy Beatte, Sandy Swensen, Denise Hernandez; Carol Alford, Suzanna Cheek, and Tina Leigh.
