Latin Artist Yelba to Perform at Keller Williams Concert

Latin artist Yelba will perform at the free Keller Williams Concert Series at Kings Harbor in Kingwood on Friday, October 15 from 7-10 p.m. The Nicaraguan-born vocalist and guitar player will be accompanied by Yelba’s Variety Band, which was nominated “Best Latin Band Traditional” by the Houston Press Music Awards 2010. The band has a varied repertoire, including Top 40, Rock, R & B, and Jazz in addition to Latin music.


2nd Annual Fundraisers Planned in Memory of Kingwood Residents

The first event is the Rodney Odom Memorial 2nd Annual Golf Tournament & Silent Auction Dinner on Sat., Oct. 9 at Kingwood Country Club. Odom was the all-time leading scorer on the Kingwood High School Basketball Team, who went on to play in college and professionally. The founder of the Project Hoops organization in Kingwood, he died in 2008 at age 38. The Rodney Odom Memorial Foundation raises money for scholarships and a teen athlete cardiac screening program.

The second fundraiser is Addison Faith Bender’s 2nd Annual Walk by Faith on Sun., Nov. 7 at Deussen Park in Summerwood. The event includes a 5K race/walk and a 1K kids’ fun run designed for the entire family to participate.


Ezra Charles Rocks the Harbor at Keller Williams Concert

At the Keller Williams concert last Friday night, Lisa Dempsey was repeatedly asked: “Do you know who you have at this concert? I had to pay to see him last time I went to an Ezra Charles concert!”

Dempsey, senior team leader at Keller Williams Realty Northeast, smiled at the response, pleased at the affect the free concert had on the legions of Ezra fans in attendance at the monthly event at Kings Harbor in Kingwood. “It’s a beautiful night on the lake and Keller Williams is so fortunate to be part of this community,” she announced to the huge crowd before introducing the evening’s entertainment.


Keller Williams Realty Northeast Announces August Award Winners

Lisa Dempsey, senior team leader at Keller Williams Realty Northeast, recently announced the Market Center’s top agents for the month of August 2010. The August award winners for the most listings are: Agent of the Month, Anne Vickery; Team of the Month, Fahrmeier Team: Karen Fahrmeier and Leslie Free; Group of the Month, The Doug Erdy Team: Doug Erdy, Nelda Cedeno, Dwynette Meadows and Sabi Gutierrez.


Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) Releases June Market Update

During the month of June, sales of single family homes in northeast Houston varied widely versus the Houston market overall, according to the Multiple Listing Service Market Update released by the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR). While the Houston market had a three percent gain in single family homes sold over last year, HAR Area #1 (Atascocita/Humble) declined 11 percent, HAR Area #40 (Montgomery County Southwest) increased by 18 percent and Area #32 (Kingwood) was flat with exactly the same number of homes sold in June 2010 as in June 2009.


Charity Holds Golf Ball Drop

The Village Learning & Achievement Center will mark its tenth anniversary serving people with disabilities in a big way. The non-profit organization based in Kingwood will drop hundreds of golf balls from the air onto a hole at Tour 18 golf course during the its 10th Annual Golf Tournament on May 10.


Kingwood Library Opens

Last week marked a long-anticipated event for the Kingwood area: the unveiling of our new library.

The new $8 million Kingwood Branch Library opened on April 19. The 30,000 square foot facility at 4400 Bens View Lane in Kingwood was built by the City of Houston and will be run by Harris County. Nestled in the woods, the new library is as scenic as it is functional. All the windows in the building look out onto the Livable Forest.


Elvis Shakes the Lake at Keller Williams Concert

When Elvis tribute artist Vince King visited Kings Harbor on Friday night, he wasted no time getting the place shaking “like a leaf on a tree.” The “King” was the feature performer at the free concert hosted by Keller Williams which drew a record crowd to the waterfront venue on Lake Houston in Kingwood.
