More than 600 people turned out to watch the Lake Houston Family YMCA’s version of Dancing with the Stars last week. The YMCA Dancing for Partners fund raiser was a friendly dance competition pairing local community leaders and professional dance instructors on April 22 at the Humble Civic Center.
Keller Williams Realty Northeast is proud to announce that its General Manager Michael Clapp and his partner Dominique Hill, an instructor at Lake Houston Performing Arts Center, were the big winners of the evening. The pair won the Crowd Pleaser Award for most votes.
Dancing aside, their outfits alone stole the show. Clapp was dressed in a flashy disco ensemble and Hill wore a big curly wig borrowed from LHPAC’s America’s Got Talent performance last year. Clapp’s “Disco King” moves also earned him a trophy for “Best Showmanship,” cheered on by three tables of Keller Williams’ agents and their spouses. Gig ‘em, Michael!
Dancing for Partners is part of the YMCA Partners Scholarship Campaign annual fund drive. Through a variety of events and business contributions, more than $180,000 is raised annually to financially support children and families in our community who cannot afford the cost of YMCA programs. All of the funds raised are awarded in scholarships to families in the Lake Houston area and assist hundreds of children each year in the YMCA’s after school child care, day camp, swim lessons, youth sports and teen leadership programs.
