2nd Annual Fundraisers Planned in Memory of Kingwood Residents

This fall, two different fundraising events are planned in the memory of Kingwood residents who left us all too soon.

The first event is the Rodney Odom Memorial 2nd Annual Golf Tournament & Silent Auction Dinner on Sat., Oct. 9 at Kingwood Country Club. Odom was the all-time leading scorer on the Kingwood High School Basketball Team, who went on to play in college and professionally. The founder of the Project Hoops organization in Kingwood, he died in 2008 at age 38. The Rodney Odom Memorial Foundation raises money for scholarships and a teen athlete cardiac screening program.

The second fundraiser is Addison Faith Bender’s 2nd Annual Walk by Faith on Sun., Nov. 7 at Deussen Park in Summerwood. The event includes a 5K race/walk and a 1K kids’ fun run designed for the entire family to participate.

Addison, the daughter of Tony and Amber Bender of Kingwood, was just one year old when she died from brain cancer in 2007. The Walk by Faith benefits Addi’s Faith Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending childhood cancer.

You can support these organizations based in Kingwood by becoming a sponsor or a participant in their athletic events.
