Urban farmers markets are the rage in cities across the country. Kingwood is scheduled to jump in on the trend beginning this Thursday.
Starting May 13, the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee will host the Kingwood Farmers Market on Thursdays from 3-7 p.m. at Town Center Park located near the intersection of Lake Houston Pkwy. and Kingwood Dr. in Kingwood.
Eight vendors have signed up initially to participate year round, rain or shine, according to Tony Austin, a committee member and director of the Town Center Park Association. Items they will sell include: locally-grown produce, fresh bread, homemade soaps and food items.
Several vendors are the same ones that attend the Humble Farmers Market which was established by the Beautification Committee last year on Wednesdays from 3-7 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in downtown Humble.
