During the month of June, sales of single family homes in northeast Houston varied widely versus the Houston market overall, according to the Multiple Listing Service Market Update released by the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR). While the Houston market had a three percent gain in single family homes sold over last year, HAR Area #1 (Atascocita/Humble) declined 11 percent, HAR Area #40 (Montgomery County Southwest) increased by 18 percent and Area #32 (Kingwood) was flat with exactly the same number of homes sold in June 2010 as in June 2009.

The only southern breeze at the Keller Williams Concert at Kings Harbor last Friday night was the band. Lake Houston Family YMCA Unveils Expanded Facility
I moved to Kingwood in September of 1993 – the month the Lake Houston Family YMCA first opened its doors. Nearly seventeen years later, the YMCA in Kingwood is looking new again. On May 13, I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the facility’s $5 million expansion project and was amazed at the results.
The host of the event was Jenna Dhayer, the YMCA’s executive director. She welcomed the members of the business community and the YMCA board and saying: “So many of you have been involved in this project for so many years. From the bottom of my heart, and my staff’s heart, we really appreciate your support.”
Dhayer recognized Keller Williams Realty Northeast Co-Owner Mark Heinrich for more than 20 years of volunteer efforts for the YMCA. She noted that he has been involved in all three capital campaigns, served on the board for 12 years and was named Volunteer of the Year.

It was evident by last Friday night’s Keller Williams Concert at Kings Harbor that not everyone leaves town for Spring Break. In fact, there were several hundred people who thought that an evening with friends and neighbors down by the water in Kingwood was the perfect way to spend their break.
The featured entertainers, the 5th Avenue Band Trio, ended up being a quartet with the last minute addition of Steve Pickels from Katy on vocals. He was accompanied by Kingwood residents Terrell Tipton on bass guitar and Bill Phillips on acoustic guitar along with Chris Benton on keyboards. The group sat on bar stools and performed in the center of the Harbor Plaza close to the crowd, giving the concert a more intimate, coffee shop vibe.
