Gary Kyle to Kick-Off Rodeo Season – Performing at Keller Williams Concert in the Park
Texas country singer-songwriter Gary Kyle and the No Standards Band will kick-off the rodeo season by performing at the Keller Williams Concert in the Park on Friday, February 15 from 7-10 p.m. at Kingwood Town Center Park.
The Concert in the Park is the first in a series of ten, free concerts on the third Friday of the month, presented by the Agents at Keller Williams Realty Northeast and sponsored by K’s Motorsports, Insperity, Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware, Texan GMC and The Kingwood Monthly.
Kingwood-native Kyle will return to his hometown to introduce some songs from his newly-released third album: “Texas Strong.” Several singles off of the album are schedule to be released starting early this year.
Kyle has opened for artists such as Stony LaRue, Roger Creager, Cory Morrow, Wade Bowen and Tanya Tucker. His music has been described as a “collection of feel good, make you wanna cry, make you wanna dance, down-home Texas country as eclectic and rich in character as the Lone Star State itself.”
-MORE-
A 1995 graduate of Kingwood High School, Kyle grew up the youngest of six children in a musically-talented family. His father was a country, bluegrass singer and guitarist, who performed throughout Texas and Oklahoma. His mother often made ends meet with money she earned from singing telegrams.
In high school, Kyle with his dad’s guitar in hand formed a cross-over country band called “Big Billy Bocephus and the Yee Haws.” He says it was that first stage experience that convinced him to pursue music for a living. He started writing original songs in college and would sing in front of anyone who would listen. After earning a degree from The University of North Texas, he made music a full-time job, playing in honky-tonks and dance halls all over Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The title track of Kyle’s debut CD, “Livin’,” was influenced by the experiences of his youth. His dad died when he had just turned one year old. Then at 13 years old, his 19-year-old brother died of Leukemia. The lyrics reflect Kyle’s passion for life and a belief that “life is too short and too precious to be taken for granted.”
The featured charity at the concert will be the American Heart Association. The non-profit organization will hold a fund-raising raffle with prizes donated by Town Center area merchants. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Activities will be available for children at the Keller Williams Kidz Korner.
Town Center Park is located at 8 North Main Street in Kingwood. Concert-goers are welcome to bring lawn chairs and coolers. For more information, visit www.clickKWne.com/concerts
