Northeast Houston Home Sales Shine in August

Northeast Houston was a bright spot in the Houston housing market in August, according to the Multiple Listing Service Market Update released by the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR).

Home buyers took advantage of a good selection of homes on the market to pump up single family home sales in August in both HAR Area 32 (Kingwood) and Area 40 (Montgomery County Southeast). The Kingwood area recorded 106 single family homes sold in August, up 12.7 percent versus last year. In Montgomery County Southeast, 37 homes were sold in August, a 23.3 percent gain.


Ezra Charles Rocks the Harbor at Keller Williams Concert

At the Keller Williams concert last Friday night, Lisa Dempsey was repeatedly asked: “Do you know who you have at this concert? I had to pay to see him last time I went to an Ezra Charles concert!”

Dempsey, senior team leader at Keller Williams Realty Northeast, smiled at the response, pleased at the affect the free concert had on the legions of Ezra fans in attendance at the monthly event at Kings Harbor in Kingwood. “It’s a beautiful night on the lake and Keller Williams is so fortunate to be part of this community,” she announced to the huge crowd before introducing the evening’s entertainment.


Keller Williams High Rollers Club Encourages Public to Attend Gala for FamilyTime

Keller Williams Realty Northeast has formed a special group of real estate professionals called the “High Rollers Club.” The group has nothing to do with real estate, but a lot to do with the culture at Keller Williams which promotes giving back to the community.

The members of the Keller Williams High Rollers Club have each donated $1,000 to FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center in Humble as part of a sponsorship of the Keller Williams Realty Northeast Viva Las Vegas Gala slated for Sept. 25 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Marriott Hotel at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. FamilyTime, the benefactor of the charity gala, provides free crisis intervention, counseling, support groups and legal advocacy to all victims of domestic abuse.


Will’s Kids Event Scheduled for Oct. 16 at Town Center Park in Kingwood

Carpe Diem! Seize the day. That’s what the non-profit organization Will’s Kids is asking local youth ages 4 to 18 to do to earn scholarships.

Will’s Kids will hold its Carpe Diem Festival on Saturday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Town Center Park in Kingwood. Will’s Kids is built on the premise that the inspiration and encouragement of even one child makes the world a better place.

Ezra Charles to Headline Keller Williams Concert on Sept. 17

The Ezra Charles’ Texas Blue Band, affectionately called “Houston’s Band” by its fans, will make its debut at the Keller Williams Free Concert Series at Kings Harbor on Friday, September 17 from 7-10 p.m.

The six-member band is famous for its namesake’s flashy piano antics and for having ladies playing in the horn section. Ezra Charles is Houston’s best-known keyboard artist. He was a five-time winner of the Houston Press Readers Poll Award and the leader of the official band of the Houston Rockets from 1993 to1996.

Area Home Sales Cool Down in July As Homebuyer Tax Credit Expires Houston

Sales of single family homes in Houston fell sharply in July after an artificial boost due to the federal tax credit came to a close.

Following four consecutive months of comparable sales gains, the Houston market sold 25 percent less single family homes in July 2010 than July 2009, according to the Multiple Listing Service Market Update released by the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR).

The same trend occurred in two areas of northeast Houston. Single family home sales in HAR Area #1 (Atascocita/Humble) and Area #32 (Kingwood) were down 27 percent and 31 percent, respectively, in July.


Kelly McGuire Band Receives a Warm Welcome at the Harbor

Kelly McGuire’s brought his blend of tropical songs and storytelling to Kings Harbor last Friday night. The award-winning songwriter from Clear Lake entertained a large, enthusiastic crowd which enjoyed a warm, breezy evening at the free Keller Williams Summer Send Off Concert.

“Is it as beautiful as this all the time in Kingwood?” McGuire asked the crowd. “Now I know why all these Clear Lake people are moving up to Kingwood!”

Keller Williams Realty Northeast is giving area residents a final taste of summer with two free upcoming concerts at Kings Harbor on Lake Houston in Kingwood.

The first is tomorrow night Aug. 20 from 7- 10 p.m. featuring Kelly McGuire and his band. McGuire is an award-winning singer and songwriter whose music has been inspired by the tropical sound of Jimmy Buffet. McGuire’s musical style ranges from country to calypso to folk and rock.
