Kingwood Event to Benefit Girl Injured in Plane Crash

Members of the Kingwood Community are organizing a Big Top Fund Raiser & BBQ to benefit 16-year-old Rachel Zientek who was badly burned in a plane crash in Alaska earlier this summer. Rachel is the daughter of Mike Zientek, a City of Houston police officer who serves Kingwood.

The event will take place on August 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Town Center Park in Kingwood and include a barbecue meal and carnival-style games. Musical entertainment will be provided by the band Thunder from 1-5 p.m.

The goal of the event is to raise at least $10,000 to help assist Rachel’s family with the mounting medical expenses as she undergoes treatment for her injuries, says Gwendolyn Condoleo-Crawford, one of the event’s organizers. Businesses and individuals can help meet that goal by donating an in-kind item for the silent auction, sponsoring a booth or providing a monetary donation to underwrite the cost of the event.
