Keller Williams Realty Ranks Second in HBJ Report

The Houston Business Journal reported in its June 25 issue that Keller Williams Realty is the second largest Houston-area residential real estate brokerage firm for 2009 based on both closed transactions and volume of closed sales. The results take into account the combined figures for six Keller Williams offices: Northeast, The Woodlands, Professionals, Magnolia, Sterling Ridge and Livingston.

For Number of Closed Transactions in 2009, Keller Williams ranked second in the Houston-area with 3,884 units sold – up from the third place spot in 2008. For Gross Dollar Volume of Closed Sales in 2009, the Keller Williams group was second in the Houston-area with $825,391,996. That was a jump from fifth place in the 2008 report.

The three offices of which Judy Hopkins is the Broker of Record (Northeast, The Woodlands, Professionals) have been submitting their production for at least the past five years to the Houston Business Journal’s annual Residential Real Estate Brokerage Firms report. Although the submission is voluntary, the three offices have consistently been at or near the top three of residential brokerages in Houston since 2004.

“The increased production of our individual agents and agent teams during a difficult real estate market is a testament to the value proposition of being with one of our offices,” states Hopkins.

Michael Clapp, Keller Williams general manager, credits the company’s investment in training as being a factor in the results. “At the beginning of the shift in Houston’s real estate market in 2007, we invested over $100,000 in our Center For Real Estate Mastery (CREM), which provides both new and experienced agents with the latest techniques in real estate sales, customer service, evaluating the market, short-sales, and technology,” notes Clapp.
