Keller Williams and Will’s Kids Working Together to Support Northeast Houston

Keller Williams Northeast is proud to have had local charity, Will’s Kids, as the benefiting nonprofit for last Friday’s concert with Vince King. Executive Director, Janet Hayes, said about the Keller Williams Concert experience,

“A cornerstone of Will’s Kids’ philosophy is that it takes a village to raise a child. For a child to excel at something, countless people will stand in line to encourage, mentor, train, and finance the journey. Vince King is a perfect example. No one draws the crowd to King’s Harbor like he does!”

Incorporated in 2008 by the Hayes Family, Will’s Kids came together as a result of do-gooder, Will Askew, a man who helped the Hayes family by providing financial and mentoring support to the Hayes children out of the kindness of his heart.

Today Will’s Kids partners with local organizations such as The Lake Houston Area Chamber and larger agencies such as United Way of Greater Houston and America’s Promise Alliance. Will’s Kids’ mission is “to eliminate barriers and breathe life into the dreams and passions of children in need of support, because the best in any one single child enriches us all.”

The organization now serves children ages 4 to 18 by providing mentoring, tutoring, private lesson assistance as well as league and youth activities, in order to promote self esteem, responsibility and encouragement to all children. The Catalyst Club targets mentoring needs of middle to high school students, providing academic and emotional counseling, instruction and opportunity. Their newest venture is the ICanClub. Now in the planning phase, the ICanClub is setting up to provide afterschool activities focusing on fine arts and sports that are not typically offered by schools.

In looking at the importance of community and the impact it makes on our children, Janet Hayes also said,

“The King’s Harbor Concert Series hosted by Keller Williams is a phenomenal gift to residents of Northeast Houston. Bringing the community together to celebrate talent, good will, and community spirit is a goal of Will’s Kids, and this event did just that! We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to partner with Keller Williams. They are building a stronger community for all of us!”
