Keller Williams January Concert Draws Record Crowds

An unseasonably warm evening and Zumba dancing brought out a record crowd to the Keller Williams concert at Kings Harbor Plaza last Friday night (Jan. 22). Concert goers listened to the Latin beat of the band Dozziz Tropical and danced under the direction of 13 Zumba instructors from area health clubs.

“It was the largest group of Zumba dancers that I have ever led,” said Trish King, who teaches Zumba at QLS and Lone Star College – Kingwood. “The energy was amazing.”

Zumba is one of the hottest fitness crazes in the world featuring an aerobic dance program with moves from traditional Latin dances such as salsa, merengue, flamenco and tango.

Each Zumba instructor took a turn leading a dance at the concert. Lead instructors were: Velia Abdala, Zumba with Velia; Cindy and Joe Samudio, Lake Houston Family YMCA; Chari Paulson, Kingwood Athletic Club; Carmen Clemence, Lifetime Fitness; Rianne Garcia, Ekam Yoga Center; Trish King, QLS and Lone Star College Kingwood; Cornelia Berrocal, C-Results Fitness; and Melissa Reaux Dismukes, Halliburton Corporate Gym. Supporting instructors were: Teri Wendt, Kingwood Athletic Club; Viviane Thompson; Julie Fly, QLS; and Kelly Braswell.

Clemence showed the crowd that Zumba appeals to all age groups by bringing six of her elementary school aged students from Lifetime Fitness on stage to perform for the audience.

Keller Williams Team Leader Buddy Wall was the master of ceremonies. He introduced members of the featured charity for the evening: the Hispanic Executive Society International and its student affiliate the Hispanic Student Society International. The groups provide leadership and mentoring services to economically disadvantaged students at Humble, Atascocita and Summer Creek high schools. In attendance were: Eleana Topp, Keller Williams agent and HESI member; Joe Ramirez, HESI president; and Vanessa Salinas, HSSI Atascocita High School chapter president.

The next Keller Williams concert at Kings Harbor will celebrate the rodeo season with country band 8 Seconds, Pitt’s & Spitt’s barbecue and line dancing on Fri., Feb. 19 from 7-10 p.m.
