Texas and Atascocita Top Destinations for Relocation

There is a popular bumper sticker that reads: “I wasn’t born in Texas, but got here as fast as I could.”

Recently released statistics confirm that Texas is still a prime relocation destination with Atascocita being one of the top choices in the state.

The Allied Van Lines 42nd Annual Report states that for the fifth straight year they moved more people to Texas than any other state in the U.S.

In 2009, the moving company reports that they had nearly 2,000 more moves into Texas than the number exiting the state.

In another report released by a national research firm, Atascocita was the second fastest growth area in the country in 2009.

The Gadberry Group’s “9 from 2009” list named Atascocita as the second highest growth area in the country last year.

The number of households in Atascocita grew from 11,475 to 23,917 since 2000 – a 108 percent increase. The northeast Houston suburb was listed in third place for average household income growth, moving from $79,054 to $99,272 during the same nine year period.

These stats are positive signs for our area’s housing market. The Houston Association of Realtors confirmed the good news with its November housing report in which Houston single-family home sales increased 32.8 percent and the median home price rose 8.7 percent versus last year. Stay tuned to this blog for the December housing results.
