Austin-based band Soul Track Mind will return to the Keller Williams Concert Series at Kings Harbor on Friday, August 17 from 7-10 p.m. The free back-to-school concert is being presented by the agents at Keller Williams Realty Northeast and the band is sponsored by Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware and the Kings Harbor tenants.
With its energetic vocalist Donovan Keith and dynamic brass section, Soul Track Mind captivated the crowd on its first trip to the Keller Williams Concert Series last summer. This group of seven young musicians is traversing the country to perform what Texas Monthly called a “revved up version of the way back soul machine.” The band’s modern take on ‘60s era soul, jazz, R & B, rock and funk music earned them a spot as a 2011 Austin Music Awards finalist for “Best New Band.”
Their debut album “Ghost of Soul” released in 2010 generated much media attention including a mention in The New York Times Magazine which named Soul Track Mind as part of nationwide resurgence of soul music. The band is aiming for a spring 2013 release of their sophomore album, which is being recorded at the legendary Piety Street Recording in New Orleans.
The concert’s featured charity will be the Humble ISD Education Foundation, which funds innovative educational programs. The non-profit organization will hold a fund-raising raffle with prizes donated by the Kings Harbor merchants. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Kings Harbor is at 1660 W. Lake Houston Pkwy., Kingwood. Additional concert parking is available at the Humble ISD Instructional Support Center, 4810 Magnolia Cove Dr. Lawn chairs are welcome and glass containers are prohibited.
