Ezra Charles Band to Headline Keller Williams Concert on Sept. 21

The Ezra Charles Band will perform at the free Keller Williams Concert at Kings Harbor on Friday, September 21 from 7-10 p.m.  The band’s namesake Ezra Charles is known as the “King of Texas Blues Piano.” He was a five-time winner of the Houston Press Readers Poll Award and the leader of the official band of the Houston Rockets from 1993 to 1996.

Ezra has played private performances for The Rolling Stones, President George Bush and the 1990 Economic Summit, The NBA All-Star Party, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the 1992 Republican National Convention, and the 2010 Boy Scout Centennial Celebration in Minute Maid Park.

His six-piece band has a range of musical styles including rockabilly, swing, blues and boogie-woogie. The group’s repertoire consists largely of songs from Ezra Charles’ albums: Design for Living (1989), Modern Years (1994), Drive Time (1996), Texas-Style (1998), Beaumont Boy (2001), and King of Texas Blues (2010).  The band won the 2010 Houston Regional Blues Competition and were semi-finalists in the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

The concert is being presented by the agents at Keller Williams Realty Northeast and sponsored by Texan GMC. The guest charity Special Olympics Texas will hold a fund-raising raffle with prizes donated by the Kings Harbor tenants. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Kings Harbor is at 1660 W. Lake Houston Pkwy., Kingwood. Lawn chairs are suggested. Glass containers are prohibited.
