Plans for the Lake Houston Area Chamber’s 2011 Lake Houston 10K/5K are now underway. The second annual event, presented by Memorial Hermann Northeast, will begin at 7:15 am, Saturday, August 27 at Kings Harbor on Lake Houston. The 10K/5K will be a sanctioned race, with prizes awarded to the top male and female runners.
Last year’s event proved successful with more than 600 runners from across the state and country, some from as far away as Massachusetts, participating in the run. This year the committee is preparing for 1,000 participants. Following the run will be an awards ceremony, vendor booths, music and other entertainment.
The committee will soon be soliciting help for this major area event. Whether you’d like to sponsor the event, sign-up as a vendor, serve on the planning committee, volunteer to help the day of the event, or even participate in the run/walk, there are many ways for businesses and individuals to get involved in the area’s premier health and wellness event.
