March is the time to spring forward, spring break, and spring clean! Read below for some home maintenance tips to keep your home and your budget spring clean!
Indoor Home Maintenance
1. This is a great time to go through your home and free yourself of clutter. Evaluate clothes older than two years, toys kids have outgrown, old books, old medicines, etc, and decide if they can be and / or need to be parted with. Getting rid of the clutter is a great way to make your home feel fresh this spring.
2. In order to prepare for the hot Houston summer months, it is a good idea to get your A/C serviced by a professional this month.
3. A great way to avoid waking up in the middle of the night to a low battery smoke detector is to replace the batteries whenever daylight savings kicks in. Don’t forget the carbon monoxide detectors!
Outdoor Home Maintenance
1. Look for low areas in your yard. Take advantage of a warm spring day and fill those areas with compacted soil. This will reduce the standing water in your yard during our rainy season, and also help with mosquito control by getting rid of stagnant water.
2. If you haven’t already, time for some fresh mulch! Not only does it freshen up your flowerbeds, it also gives you a head start on keeping control of spring weeds.
3. Give your yard maintenance equipment a tune up. Make sure they are ready to tackle the summer growing season!
