August Houston Home Maintenance

Taking care of Northeast Houston home maintenance is a great way to extend the life of certain elements of your home and head off larger maintenance problems later. Keller Williams Northeast Realty wants to help you protect your home investment.

Read below for some Houston home maintenance tips to keep your home and your budget feeling new.

Indoor Home Maintenance

  1. Remove and wash stove burners, coils, and grates with soap and warm water. Over time, grease can build up and increase the risk of a fire.
  2. Do you have fire extinguishers? If not, it is recommended to keep one fire extinguisher on each floor of your home. Take this month to check the expiration dates on your current fire extinguishers and replace as necessary.
  3. Do a dryer duct check as well this month and clean out any lint build up to reduce your risk of fire.

Outdoor Home Maintenance

  1. Have you had your air conditioning unit tuned this summer? If you’ve found that your home isn’t cooling as efficiently as last year, have your A/C inspected.
  2. Has Houston’s humidity added some mildew to your home? Take the opportunity to pressure wash the outside of your home to keep its curb appeal.
  3. Time to get your roof inspected! Check for any leaks, missing or broken shingles. You may also want to consider getting your roof cleaned of debris to keep water from getting trapped on your roof.
